About · the studio

Engineering, design and visualisation. Working as one.

We design and construct systems that perform under pressure. From concept through to completion, we handle the technical complexity so you can focus on delivery.

[01] What we do

Iland is an engineering and design studio that helps ambitious clients turn complex ideas into things that actually get built. Live shows, brand activations, new products — we engineer the unfamiliar, and we do it well.

[02] Who we are

Iland started with one engineer and a simple aim: do quality design work, for clients worth doing it for.

Founded by Nick Iland, the studio began as a one-person freelance practice taking on the projects other engineers found too unusual, too tight, or too creative. Word spread. The work got harder, more ambitious — and more rewarding. Today Iland is a small, focused team based in Archway, London, working with clients across the world.

We’re not happy unless we’re busy. We like challenges. And we like the moment a sketch you’ve been staring at for weeks finally takes physical form on a stage, on a high street, or on a customer’s desk.

[03] our approach

We’re a design-led
engineering practice.

That means our drawings start with what the client is trying to achieve. We work end-to-end on the design side: feasibility, mechanical design, 3D visualisation, structural calculations and compliance documentation.

We say yes to weird. And we speak the language of producers, fabricators, riggers and creative directors fluently — because we’ve spent our careers in their rooms.
