Jasper Smart Speaker Nevertheless AI

Intro

Iland Engineering assisted with the Industrial Design elements of the Jasper Smart Speaker.

When Iland Engineering first engaged Nevertheless AI, they had an idea and they needed the right people to bring it to life.

Working with some first-pass renders and some rough dimensions, we set about creating a 3D model for the first demo version of the Jasper speaker. The focus for this version was on the aesthetics and ensuring there was enough space inside to house a few simple parts and a suitable mounting for the screen. The client also wanted the side panels to be removable in order to switch out different colours.

Working closely with the Nevertheless team, we made the design using Solidworks and 3D printed the parts in-house as a first pass test. From our vast experience of manufacture and testing, we know that nothing is right first time, so our ability to iterate quickly and print in-house meant that we found the winning solution quickly.

Post-design Stage

Once the design was confirmed we assisted Nevertheless in out-sourcing the manufacture for various parts in order to achieve the desired aesthetic. Iland Engineering has a network of suppliers in the UK and abroad and can always find the right supplier to suit the needs of the client.

After the demo version of the speaker was successfully tested. The team moved onto producing a run of MVP speakers. This required working closely with the audio and software teams from other companies and Iland Engineering was once again happy to bridge the gap between the various teams and modify the design to ensure everything could fit and that the finished design was production-ready.

Outcome

We really enjoyed working with Nevertheless on this project and communicating with technicians of various fields made it even more interesting. We look forward to seeing the development of the Jasper Speaker in the years to come!
