Smart Walls
Plenti Space

Intro

Plenti is addressing Europe’s housing affordability crisis with ‘Smart Walls’ that create affordable, sustainable, and comfortable spaces, which are commercially viable for property developers and landlords.

Smart walls expand spaces on demand - increasing utilisation and livability of a property. With Plenti developers reduce rents for tenants by 20%, while increasing rent premiums by 10% per sqm, and lowering the environmental impact by 25% per flat.

Our value

Iland engineering assisted Plenti space with the mechanical elements of this project, specifically on the automatic unfolding table. We did this by calculating the implied forces on the table as it unfolds and the appropriately sizing a linear actuator and gas struts to ensure it could perform the raise-lower movement safely and at an appropriate speed.

We also performed an FEA analysis on the steel elements hidden within the table and the back bracket that held the actuator, this was incredibly important as there were huge cantilever loads passing through both of these parts.

Lastly, we brought all of this together by packaging the various components neatly into the table and wall and assisted with the manufacture to ensure everything was finished to a high standard.

Results

Iland engineering is more than capable of blending product design and mechanical design to assist clients with products that must look good but also function properly. This is why our work on the Plenti space project was such a success.
